0:00 Hello, everyone, and welcome to today's video, where we're going to be talking about OpenAI's DevDay yesterday and one of the biggest features that they released.
0:10 And that feature is Spaces. Now, Spaces are pretty complex, and so the best analogy that I can think of to help you understand them is to think of a Space as an AI-powered Google Drive or SharePoint.
0:25 If you think about the functionality of Google Drive, it's meant to organize your documents and store information. A Space can do both of those things, but in an AI-powered way.
0:38 So instead of just creating a document and forgetting about it, a Space can keep that document updated based on a frequency that you establish.
0:47 That's pretty useful if you think about business applications. Say you create a Space as an onboarding hub for new employees.
0:56 Well, in that onboarding hub, you can have the current projects that are being worked on. Every week, say, ChatGPT can go and pull the most current information for that onboarding hub.
1:12 And I think this is also really advantageous because it's a nice way to organize the conversations that you've been having in a really clean way.
1:20 You know, if you think about how ChatGPT worked before, if you're interacting in a chat, say, for research that you're doing, well, that information is going to stay in that chat.
1:32 Now, if you create it as a Space, it is something that is durable, something that is nicely organized, and something that you can refer back to easily.
1:41 So let's dive in. That's what a Space is. Now, a Space is made up of various assets from Google Drive, Sites, or something that was also recently released called a Page.
1:54 Now, many Pages can make up a Space. So let's look at this example. This is our LearnAIR Educate Space.
2:03 Now, this Space functions as the most up-to-date hub for all LearnAIR educators to go and find the most current resources and information.
2:13 And so, you can see that we have various reference guides. I'm not going to scroll through the whole thing because some of it is internal information.
2:21 But, in addition to that, you can see that there are subpages within this Space. So, we have our Curriculum and Trainer Playbook, and we have our Tasks and Training, something that is always being updated.
2:33 And so, what I can do is show the Pages, and you can see that this Space is made up of various Pages.
2:43 And so, that's more or less the architecture of a Space. A Space can be made up of multiple Pages that are linked together.
2:52 Now, how do you add a Page? Well, you use this slash. And this allows you to create a lot of different things within a Page.
3:01 You can create that subpage within the Space, or you can also generate media, generate visualizations, or use lots of other formatting functionality.
3:13 Now, the other key benefit to working in a Space is that auto-update ability. So let me show you how to do that in a Space.
3:22 Let's close out of our outline and click on the name of the Space in the upper-left-hand corner. There, you'll see this new Schedule button, and that's what allows me to actually type in natural language what I want my schedule to be.
3:37 So I can tell it to update this Space every Monday at 8 a.m. or, heck, every day at 8 a.m.
3:44 Now, notice that it creates a private schedule for me. And that's useful because imagine you have different teammates collaborating in a Space.
3:52 Say one person's expertise is content development, while another person is more focused on trainings. Well, in the case of content development, say that's me, I'm going to want to update the content on a certain schedule.
4:05 Whereas my training colleague is going to want to update the training elements of the Page on their own schedule.
4:14 And so, that's why schedules are currently private. Based on the schedule that I set, the Space is going to get updated at that frequency.
4:22 And then, if my colleague has their own schedule, the same Space is going to get updated based on the tasks that they set here and the updates that my colleague has scheduled, if that makes sense.
4:36 So I can say, "Set up a private schedule for LearnAIR Educate that looks at our current trainings for the week and updates the training schedule daily."
5:00 So I can say this, or I can say that it goes to ClickUp and pulls in the most important content creation tasks. That could be a separate schedule.
5:09 And so, every person is able to contribute to the Space in a meaningful way on an automated frequency. And so, you can see that it's going to go and schedule that update.
5:24 See, it pulls in Google Calendar, it runs at 8 a.m. daily, and, yeah, it updates the Page. And because Pages can be shared, the whole team will see those updates.
5:37 So let me show you how to share a Space. If we go back into Spaces, remember, it's on this left sidebar.
5:49 You can click in the upper-right-hand corner to actually share the Space, and you can choose to give your entire workspace access to the Space, or you can choose to select the people that you want to share the Space with.
6:02 And so, to me, Spaces really represents more and more work being contained within ChatGPT. And to conclude, as Sam Altman said in the DevDay video, productivity software was not built for AI plus AI.
6:17 It allows us to work together, but Spaces solve that. So hopefully, after this video, you can envision what your work could look like within a Space in ChatGPT.
6:29 Thank you so much for watching, and don't forget the human part.
